While living in Peru I illustrated for
children’s books and over time, I had a deep desire to create a
book of my own.
Over the last year I have been collaborating
with my close friend, Daniel Templeton, in the hopes that we
might create a children’s picture book. We’ve fallen in love
with the characters and believe in the message they have to
convey. Pietro & Sorrentina are borne of our imaginations and
each of our efforts’ on this project motivates the other. As
Pietro & Sorrentina are a kind of team, so are we!
Pietro & Sorrentina are watercolor creations.
While time consuming, watercolors are a delicate and transparent
medium providing a fresh and vivid way of illustrating the
classic children’s book. Watercolors’ warmth aides in creating
not just a book, but also a timeless story that begs to be read
again & again. Not only do we desire to teach children the
consequences of the choices they make in life, but we also
desire to create a work of art, more aptly done via a canvas and
palette.
The following are sample illustrations from
the book, which is eagerly searching for a good home.
